Britt Nicole GOLD

Yes I'm sticking with the half finished look. I was planning on finishing it, but if I let something sit for more than a month it usually never get's "finished". Besides, I've been told it looks cool the way it is.

Aslo, Britt Nicole is a Christian singer, I got to meet her at the Leaving Eden tour last year. (She's really sweet!)  I still have the drawing I had her sign on my wall. (It's all done in Crayon)

And here's a song from her latest album.

Polar Bear Illustrations

When I was a kid my dad would hide my stuffed polar bear and would wait for me to find him before tucking me into bed. Then he would proceed to tell a story involving me, polar bear, and my menagerie of stuffed animals.
The girl received Polar Bear when she was six

When I was around twelve, I sketched out a few illustrations to match up with the memories of the stories my father told. When I was thirteen I wrote down the basic ideas of the stories, planning to one day turn the memories and sketches into book. I could then share part of childhood with my one day family.

Polar Bear grew up with the girl

Well I never got around to it, though the idea played around in the back of my mind. Now I'm seventeen, stumbled across my old sketchbook, and found myself with a fair amount of free time over the last few days. Thus, I decided to write up one of the stories and sketch some drawings involving my stuffed bear.

This is how Polar Bear imagines it when the girl cuddles him for comfort.

This is how my Polar Bear looked new... (Couldn't find any photo's of my Polar Bear)
Anyways, one of the many projects I'm up to. Hopefully I'll get it done this summer.

Developing My Style... Or Trying to...

I have a difficult time drawing anything but realistic. I really want to tackle diversity, be able to do many styles. Currently my most major crutch is I cannot drawing from my head. Sure  I can make stuff up, but I must look at a reference for the basic form first.

Also, I want to develop my own style for sketches. Drawings that aren't necessarily accurate, proportional wise, but do have a quaintness or appeal to them.
So here's what I've been up to the last few days. (I've been stuck inside with a sprained ankle, with orders not to walk about.)
*sigh* I used a reference to get the profile right.

Based off of a drawing I saw that I loved the look of.

Crosshatching with marker does not really work. However it was fun to try!

This was also based off a drawing I saw, I just loved the pose!
Another drawing I liked and redrew

Anne of Green Gables inspired

Another lovely drawing I wanted to redraw.
Well, I'll let you know how the development of my style goes, so far I'm just learning what I like about the styles of other artists and I'll end up applying said styles into my future art.

Hobbit Sketches

It's rather funny, I've watched the hobbit three times, (yeah, not very many compared to a lot of other people, ;) ) and I like it more each time. I notice more things, I enjoy the beauty of the setting and filming. Bofur (he's the dwarf with the funny hat) is becoming one of my favorites. I liked him in the book, but he's awesome in the movie. So probably the next Hobbit themed drawing will have him in it.

On to the drawings!

Fili and Kili, a stylized version. I drew this to go along with a friend's birthday present. Kili's her favorite dwarf (character?) but I couldn't draw Kili and leave out Fili so here we are.

And then we have Bilbo and Thorin, a realistic version. A friend was having a rough day so I made brownies and sketched her a hobbit drawing. (She's always been encouraging my art, however I haven't drawn her anything really cool yet.) Thorin is her favorite character, but what's a hobbit drawing without a hobbit? Besides, Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins is really fun to draw.

I really should take a hobbit break. :)

But I didn't and while I was at my two week training I drew several other Hobbit drawings.
I'll post them sometime after I've caught up on sleep.
ZZzzzzzz.....
