Review of I Print at Home ( iprintathome.com )

I haven't been in the print making part of art for very long, but one thing is for certain. It is very very hard to find a decent price for small number prints. At least, I have trouble with it. Sure I can scan and print decent prints at home, but those are certainly not sell-able quality.

I've used various print services for the past two years. When entering art contests I often send in a print of my work. If also had prints done for family and friends. Even sent some over to Africa. (but I digress)

From my experience prints are either, expensive or a poor representation of the original. In some terrible instances I've had both problems. So I'm always trying out new print services.

Enter iprintfromhome.

I've haven't ordered extensively from iprintfromhome, but here's my review based upon my experiences thus far.

  • Quick Shipping, mine have consistently arrived a day earlier than expected.
  • You can ship a print directly to a customer if you so desire.
  • Quality prints
  • Little expensive, but as far as high quality prints go, this seems very reasonable. I'd say if you only want a few prints, then this is the way to go. If you wanted a large quantity of prints there certainly can be other cheaper options.
Also, many places require you to ship in your art so they can do a high quality scan of the piece. Their scans are well done, however if you're wanting.

  • They seem to print a little dark. I've had prints come back and they are certainly darker than the image on my computer screen. Could be my problem, could be theres, just a heads up. It wasn't a big deal to me, just something I noticed.
  • The use high quality materials, which is important if your interested in a lasting print.

Over all, I would recommenced them. They also send a cool little sample pack when you first order, so you can see the different types of prints they do. I certainly find it useful and they have some attractive artwork and photography printed on some of the samples. I find it useful when trying to determine the paper I want it printed on.

Also, if you put my name ( Rachel Fetting) as your Reference. (There's a "Referred by:" box) You'll get 10 promo dollars. I used them on my first order and was impressed. (I love a good deal!) It also gets me 2 promo dollars so if you use it, I appreciate it!

Pencil Wielder

I was just minding my own business and doodling scenes from the novel I'm working on. (I didn't feel like writing today) When my characters started to come to life!

The wielder of the pencil controls the characters.

In reality I just was photographing my doodles to upload and I realized I could make them look like they were reacting to my pencil. Also, I'm right handed not left, I just used my left for the sake of photography, I never realized how many of my people are looking to the left!

Mail Art

What have I been up too?

I've been spreading summer cheer through a little devise know as mail. :) I had some friends who wanted to write back and forth and I promised myself I would be an awesome penpal. (because *cough* I've failed at it in the past....)

Anyways, step one of being an awesome penpal was sending mail to some people who didn't expect it at all. (after I wrote the ones who did expect it of course) They don't have to write me back, I just wanted to send some cheer. :)

Step two, was to write in cursive. Which my family knows: I don't write in cursive. After "handwriting" was no longer a school subject I ditched cursive for print. I do everything (besides my signature) in print. Well not for letter writting, I decided to try writting in cursive, it makes the letter more warm and personal. (Though annoying at times. Thus my print/cursive hybrid style of cursive)

Step three was to make it meaningful on a spiritual level. Write about what I've been learning in devotions, what God's been teaching me, and/or a scripture that I'm memorising or is meaningful.
(More info on this type of letter writing here:
http://royal-daughters-of-the-king.blogspot.com/2011/10/encouraging-others-through-letter.html )

Step four, was to tuck in a little item. Origami, a piece of gum, some tea bags, etc.

Filth, decorate! I started with simple doodles, then I went  for my prismacolor pens, then for my colored pencils, then we had these awesome glitter glue things from our church vbs. (and the little girl in me went "glitter!!!") So they became little canvases for my creativity to explode upon. (I did 11 envelopes in 2-3days)

Glitter!
Front of some letters

Back of some letters

Ready to go!

Can you see the glitter?

I'm memorizing verses in both English and Spanish

Like I said, I've done 11 envelopes, but I've only sent these six, so you'll have to wait till I've mailed them. I don't want to ruin any surprises!
